Haryana Police has emerged as a national leader in cybersecurity, pioneering innovative strategies to combat digital fraud. Their commitment has yielded remarkable results, particularly in eight months (September 2023 - April 2024), during which they thwarted Rs 73 crore in cyber fraud attempts. Since November 2021, their efforts have protected a total of Rs 103 crore from potential losses. This success garnered national recognition, with Haryana's exemplary practices being showcased at a Finance Ministry recent meeting in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, for the benefit of fintech and law enforcement agencies. The meeting brought together fintech and law enforcement agencies to discuss and share best practices. Haryana Police seized this opportunity to impart their exemplary strategies for preventing cybercrime to other states. The gathering included representatives from prominent fintech companies like Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, and Amazon, along with 60 other companies involved in the sectors. Under the leadership of Haryana Director General of Police, Shatrujeet Kapur, a comprehensive analysis of the existing cybersecurity system was conducted, revealing critical vulnerabilities. To rectify these weaknesses, the cyber helpline team underwent significant expansion, with its personnel strength doubling to 70. This enlarged team received intensive training and was deployed in two shifts, ensuring uninterrupted coverage.
